city garden, 2018

This public sculpture was made in collaboration by Isabel Mattia and Amber Dauphinee as the second iteration of a partnership between the Steel Yard and the Avenue Concept. Made from retired RIPTA bus shelters and signage, City Garden is an homage to the metamorphosis of these materials. The sculpture breaks the municipal and functional materials down to their geometric components, then transforms them into organic inspired forms. The artists hope to create something bright and curious out of the recycled materials, celebrating the creativity and quirkiness of our little city.
